McGill Sexual Assault Policy Working Group

The Sexual Assault Policy Working Group was a student-led group working to advocate for a Sexual Assault Policy for McGill University. The Working Group was active from Fall 2013 until Fall 2016, when McGill University adopted the Policy Against Sexual Violence. The Sexual Assault Policy Working Group sought to pass a Policy that is:

  • Proactive: building a culture of consent on campus through institutionalizing education and campaign initiatives
  • Pro-survivor: supporting people who have experienced sexual assault and protecting their rights
  • Anti-oppressive: accommodating the diversity of peoples’ experiences with sexual assault and their preferences in addressing their experiences
  • Accessible: providing clear channels of support and recourse available to all members of the McGill community

The Working Group is no longer active. This website serves as a history of the SAP Working Group and provide a reference for those interested. The email is infrequently monitored, as is the Facebook page. Please contact the SACOMSS External Coordinator for more information.

For information on reporting an incident of sexual violence, please visit McGill’s Office for Sexual Violence Response, Support, and Education. SACOMSS’ Advocacy Branch can assist in filing a report, accessing support and accommodations, or seeking other forms of recourse at McGill.
